Panax japonicus is a perennial,
herbaceous plant that inhabits forests in mountainous regions. Stems
stand erect, with leaves in whorls of 3-5 on the tops. The leaves
are of a palmate compound comprising five leaflets with long
petioles. Stem tops emerge with single flower stalks with spherical
umbels, in which many small yellow-green flowers bloom. The fruit
matures red. Bloom time: June-August. |
