Persicaria japonica, a perennial that occurs in
wetlands, has erect stems that reach 0.5-1m in height and
underground stems that produce new growth. Leaves, with short
petioles, are lanceolate, acuminate, 7-16cm in length, and the basal
parts are wedge-shaped. Inflorescences are spike-like, l5-10cm in
length, and drooping at the ends. Flowers are small and white,
measuring 3-4mm in diameter. Bloom time: August-October. |
