Persicaria muricata is a perennial that reaches
approximately 50cm in height. Its stems have small,
downward-pointing prickles and crawl along the ground at the lower
parts. Leaves are of alternate phyllotaxis, each 3-8cm in length,
oval or broadly lanceolate, the tip pointed, with truncate or
heart-shaped bases. Approximately ten flowers come on the branch
tops: the peduncles have glandular hair, and the perianths are
deeply cleft into five upper parts, red, and the lower ones are
white. Bloom time: September-October. |
