Persicaria perforiata is a creeping
annual found on roadsides, paths in rice paddies, or
dry river beds. The stems grow 1-2 meters long and
twine around other trees or weeds, featuring sharp
downward prickles. Leaves are triangular, 2-4cm
long; their shield-shaped petioles sit at the
close-to-bases portion of the blades. Ochreas are
short, and the upper parts expand to grow round.
Racemes with small green flowers emerge from the
stem tops and leaf axils. Leaf-like bracts at the
bases of the racemes are striking. Bloom time:
July-October. |
