Persicaria praetermissa is
an annual that occurs on water's edges. Stem's lower
portions crawl on the ground, take root, and branch,
while the upper parts stand 30-80cm tall and have
ridges with downward-pointing prickles. Leaves are
4-10cm long, with tips tapering, bases hastate, and
papery, with stings on the margins. Petioles are
short or lacking. Leaf sheaths are brown and
membranous, 7-17mm in length. Branch tips cleft into
2-3 sparsely set flowers, forming a raceme.
Perianths are red and about 3mm long. Bloom time:
May-October. |
