Persicaria pubescens
is an annual herb, reaching a height of 0.5-1m
at the water's edge. The leaves are opposite, 5-10cm long,
lanceolate to broadly lanceolate, with pointed tips, and have
blackish speckles in the central parts. Inflorescences, 5-10cm in
length, are bowed at the ends, bearing sparsely light red-purple
flowers; perianths, approximately 3mm in size, are cleft in five;
Ochreas are cylindrical, 0.8-1.3cm long, with long hairs on the
