Persicaria senticosa,
an
annual height of approximately one meter, having sharp prickles on
the stems, occurs on roadsides, forest edges, or water edges. Its
leaves are in an alternate arrangement, each in the shape of a
triangle, 3-8cm in length, tips pointed. Flowers, ten or so in
number, bloom in clumps on branch tops. Perianths are cleft in five
segments; the upper part red, the lower white. Bloom time:
