Pertya scandens is a small deciduous shrub inhabiting sunny, somewhat dry locations in hilly districts; it grows to 0.6-1m in height, making many branches at the bases. Leaves on the first-year branches are opposite, with an overall oval shape, and the two-year ones are fascicled and narrower—a single flower blooms on each component's top in September-October.
