Pilea hamaoi, an annual herb 20-30cm in height, grows in
moist/damp places like a mountain streamside, in the shade of trees.
The stems tinge brown, hairless, tender, and feel succulent. The
phyllotaxis is opposite with long peduncles; blades are 3-6cm long
and in the shape of a rhombus-like ovate, with course serrations on
the margins and obtuse tips. Flowers with no pedicles appear
clustered in cymes at axils; male and female flowers mingle
together, and male flowers are small and spherical with two
perianths and stamens each, and female flowers have three perianths,
and two of them are more significant than the other. Bloom time:
September-October. |
