Plantago major var. japonica is a perennial herb that
grows in coastal areas. This species is significantly larger than
the other variety, Plantago asiatica. The leaves are all basal,
somewhat thick, and leathery, measuring between 8 and 25 cm in
length and 5 and 18 cm in width, with an oval shape and rounded tips
rather than pointed ones. The plant produces racemose inflorescences
that are 40 to 80 cm long, featuring dense clusters of small flowers
that emerge among the leaves. The blooming period occurs from July
to August. |
