Pollia japonica is a 0.5-1m tall perennial found in forest fields and mountains, the stem and leaves feeling texture. The narrow-oblong leaves measure 15-30cm long, and the base embraces the stem. Flowers appear on an upper stem in whorls at intervals, consisting of bisexual and male flowers, blooming from August to September.
