Portulaca oleracea / Suberihiyu スベリヒユ

Portulaca oleracea is a fleshy annual herb found in sunny locations, with stems tinged with red-purple and creeping along the ground to spread. The 1-2.5cm-long leaves are spatulate, with cuneate bases. Yellow flowers measure 6-8mm in diameter; bright light opens them, and as the light fades, they close. Petals are generally five and sepals two. Fruit ruptures sideways as it ripens, dispersing seeds. Bloom time: July-September.
