Duchesnea chrysantha, a perennial herb, occurs in paths between paddies or somewhat damp places. Stems crawl on the grounds and take roots at nodes to make new growth. Leaves are yellow-green, comprising three leaflets of 2-3.5cm in length. Flowers come on pedicles emerged from axils and put single yellow flowers on them. Flowers measure 1.2-1.5cm in diameter; accessory calyx lobes are more significant than sepals, cleft in three, with long hairs. Fruit is 0.8-1cm in length; receptacles are light red, with wrinkles as with achenes. Bloom time: April-June.
