Potentilla hebiichigo,
a perennial herb, grows in paths between paddies or in somewhat damp
areas. Stems crawl along the ground and take root at nodes to
produce new growth. Leaves are yellow-green, comprising three
leaflets 2-3.5cm in length. Flowers come on pedicles emerging from
axils, and single yellow flowers are on them. Flowers measure
1.2-1.5cm in diameter; accessory calyx lobes are more significant
than sepals, cleft into three, with long hairs. The fruit is 0.8-1cm
long; the receptacles are light red, with wrinkles similar to those
of achenes. Bloom time: April-June. |
