Ranunculus nipponicus
var. submersus is a perennial herb growing in shallow, clear
waters, and the stems are 1-2m in length with leaves tri- to
tetra-ternate compound. The leaflets are cleft in small, narrow
segments afresh - the whole tufted. Flower buds emerge from axils
and extend their flower stalks upwards to bloom on or above the
water's surface. The flowers measure 1.5-2cm in diameter; the petals
are 5- in number, almost round; their bases are yellow, sepals
green, and 5 in number. Bloom time: June-September. |
