Rosa multiflora, a
deciduous shrub growing to around 2m in height, inhabits dry
riverbeds, plains, or forest edges. Stems branch well and stand but
generally lean to and climb other vegetation. Leaves are in an
alternate arrangement, of a 10cm-long imparipinnate compound leaf;
leaflets, 3-4 pairs, 2.5cm-long long-oblong, terminal ones a bit
larger than the others, with margins serrated. Flowers, white,
approximately 2cm in diameter, fragrant, with many stamens, come in
panicles borne on branch tops; generally, 5-petaled, in the shape of
an obovate, and pistils are in small numbers. Bloom time: May-June. |
