Sataria glauca: A
30-80cm tall annual that inhabits sunny roadsides, fields, or the
like, whose stems grow in clusters and bend at nodes on the bases
and branch not too much. Leaves are 15-30 cm long, 5-8mm wide,
long-linear, somewhat stiff, with some sparse long hairs at the
nodes, and surfaces not glassy and sandy, but back surfaces feel
smooth and glossy. Inflorescences, 3-10cm long, are cylindrical and
erect, with short hairs on rachises, and spikelets measure 3-3.5cm
long with dense golden yellow bristles at the bases. The strands are
0.7-1cm long and feel sandy with fine upward needles. Bloom time:
August-October. |
