Scabiosa japonica, a
biennial growing to 60-90cm in height, inhabits grasslands in
mountainous areas, whose radical leaves pass the winter as a
rosette. Not only the radical leaves but the other ones are pinnate
as well. Tips of stems grow long to develop into peduncles, and the
ends bear purple head flowers, each measuring 4cm in diameter.
Blooming time: August-October. |
