Scutellaria kiusiana
is a perennial herb found on the floors of
evergreen forests; its stems, with upward hairs, stand erect from
rhizomes and grow to 20-30cm in height. Leaves are generally
long-triangular ovate, with light green patches along veins, 4-7
pairs of serrations on margins, and the backsides tinged purple.
Petioles measure 1-3cm in length. Stem tips produce 2-5cm long
racemes, which bear labiate flowers with 1.5-2cm long purple
corollas; the tubular portions bend erect at the bases, with lower
lips cleft in three. Bloom time: May-June. |
