Sisyrinchium atlanticum,
a perennial herb originating in North America, is broadly
naturalized in various places like sunny lawns, roadsides, etc.,
growing to 10-20cm tall. Stems are planes with narrow wings and
2-3mm-wide leaves. Slender peduncles emerge from the stem's ends,
and small flowers bloom from one to another. The flowers, about
1.5cm in diameter, wither in a day. Perianth lobes are purple or
white-purple, with dark color stripes and yellow in the center
parts. Capsules, about 3mm across, are spherical. Bloom time:
May-June. |
