Smilax china is a
deciduous semi-shrub liana inhabiting grasslands, insides- or edges
of forests in fields and mountains. Branches are with sparse thorns
and twine themselves around something around, together with their
tendrils, to extend. Leaves are alternate; blades measure 3-12cm
long, circular or elliptical, with tips pointed short, bases
circular, margins entire, the edges are leathery, and the surfaces
are obtusely glossy. Simultaneously with the development of the
leaves, axils emerge umbels and set many yellow-green flowers in
them. Sap fruit, spherical, 7-9mm across, mature orange-red in
October-November. Bloom time: April-May. |
