Solidago altissima,
a perennial originating in North America, has naturalized and spread
throughout the country. It grows in large colonies on riverbanks or
wastelands, reaching a height of up to 2.5 meters. Stems or leaves
feel sandy with short hairs. The leaves are 6-13cm long, lanceolate
with pointed tips. Stem tips emerge with large, 10-50cm long
panicles, which set many about 6mm across yellow flower heads. Bloom
time: October-November. |
