Sonchus asper, a
biennial herb originating in Europe, grows wild on roadsides or in
wastelands in various districts; stems are hollow, with many ridges,
and rise to 0.5-1m in height. Leaves are 15-20cm long, with bases
bulging out round and embracing the stems, and serration's tips grow
to sharp prickles to hurt. Flower heads are yellow and about 2cm
long; peduncles and involucral bracts occasionally have glandular
hairs. Bloom time: April-October. |
