Sophora flavescens,
a
perennial herb inhabiting sunny grasslands or riverside fields and
mountains, grow to 0.8-1.5m in height, the basal part of stems
making woody growth, with many short adpressed hairs as with leaves.
Branches set alternate-arranged imparipinnate compound leaves with
7-20 pairs of 2-4cm-long leaflets. Flowers, 1.5-1.8cm long, white to
light yellow, occasionally tinging purple, set themselves in
racemes. Bloom time: June-July. |
