Symplocos coreana,
a deciduous shrub, small tree, or tree with
gray-white bark, grows in deciduous forests or edges in mountainous
regions. Leaves are alternate; blades are 4-9cm long, 3-5cm wide, in
the shape of an obovate, with tips abruptly becoming narrow to
points in a tail-way, bases broadly cuneate, margins with sharp and
coarse serrations, and with white hairs on the backside veins.
Flowers, about 6-7mm across, set themselves in panicles that emerged
on the tips of lateral branches. Drupes, 6-7mm long, oval, mature
indigo-black in September-October. Bloom time: June. |
