Teucrium japonicum,
a perennial plant 30-70 cm in height, is found in semi-shady, damp
locations, characterized by slender underground runners. 5-10cm long
and 2-3.5cm wide, leaves are of opposite phyllotaxis, in an
oval-like, oblong, or broad lanceolate form, with sharp tips and
margins with uneven serrations—veins on the upper surfaces dent
themselves significantly, which is conspicuous. Branch tips bear 3-10 cm long inflorescences that set small, light red flowers.
Corollas measure 1-1.2cm in length. Bloom time: July-September. |
