Tofieldia japonica
is a perennial herb that thrives in high-altitude mountain wetlands.
Its leaves are linear and range from 10 to 40 cm long. The flower
stalks, which grow to 20-40 cm, bear white to light-red flowers
arranged in inflorescences. Glandular hairs are present on the
peduncles, giving the inflorescence an adhesive texture. This plant
typically blooms from August to September.
