Torilis japonica, a
biennial commonly seen in fields or roadsides, grows 30-70cm tall.
Leaves are 5-10cm long, of a bi- or tripinnate compound leaf;
leaflets are ovate-like lanceolate, delicately cut in, with dense,
short, coarse hairs on upper- and back-sides. Branch ends emerge
small-sized compound umbels and set small white flowers in them;
pedicels are 4-10 in number, and involucral bracts are slender.
2.5-3.5cm long. The fruit is oval-like, long-oblong, with dense
bristles bent in a hook way. Bloom time: May-July. |
