Tulipa edulis is
a perennial herb that inhabits sunny grasslands or forest edges.
Leaves are 15-25cm long, 0.5-1cm wide, linear-shaped, white-green,
with midribs that occasionally become white. Flower stalks grow to
2-25cm long, are slender, and feel soft, and flowers, generally
single, open as the sun shines on them. Perianth lobes are 6 in
number, 2-2.5cm long, and white with dark purple veins. Stamens are
6, shorter than the perianth lobes. Bloom time: March-April. |
