Typha latifolia:
A 1.5-2m tall, big-sized perennial herb occurring in ponds,
marshes, or brinks of rivers, with rhizome extending sideways long.
Leaves are linear-shaped, 1-2cm in width, thick, and hairless, with
bases becoming sheath-like to embrace stems. Stem tips set
cylindrical spikes; lower portions are male ones, 10-20cm long, and
adjacently follow female ends; the male points are shorter than
females, 7-12cm long. Pollen is yellow and sticks to each of the
four. Bloom time: June-August. |
