Viburnum erosum, a
deciduous shrub with gray-brown barks, inhabits forests in
mountainous regions and branches well to grow thick. Leaves are
opposite, blades measuring 4-9cm in length and 2-4cm in width, ovate
to oblong-like lanceolate, with tips, pointed and bases broadly
cuneate to circular, margins being with sharp serrations. Branch
ends emerge 3-7cm-long corymbs that bear many small white flowers;
peduncles have dense stellate hairs around them—the flowers 5mm
across, cleft in five, and open flat. The fruit (drupe) is
oval-like, circular, 5-7mm long, and mature red in
September-November. Bloom time: April-May. |
