Viburnum furcatum, a
deciduous shrub of around 6m in height, inhabits forests in
mountainous regions, branching well to grow thick. The branches are
brown when young and turn purple-brown later. Leaves are opposite;
blades are circular to broad-oval of 6-20cm in diameter, tips
pointed, and bases heart-shaped, with margins with small uneven
serrations. Branch ends emerge 6-14cm-long corymbs that bear many
white flowers; in the center parts of the corymbs gather small
hermaphrodite flowers, around which there come 2-3cm-across white
ornamental flowers that cut in five and open flat. Bloom time:
April-June. |
