Vicia sativa ssp. nigra is
a biennial herb inhabiting sunny roadsides or fields, with 8-16
leaflets, 1 to 3 from the top of them, generally growing into three
tendrils. The leaflets are narrowly obovate with dents at the top
ends. Flowers come from leaf axils - purple, 1.2-1.8cm in diameter.
Legume (fruit): 3-5cm in length. Bloom time: March-June.
