Vincentoxicum pycnostelma is a perennial herb inhabiting sunny
grasslands; stems are solid and slender, 0.4-1m in height. Leaves,
somewhat thick, are of opposite phyllotaxis, in the shape of a long
or linear-lanceolate, 6-13cm in length, 0.4-1.5cm in width, the tips
pointed. Leaf axils on the upper parts give birth to inflorescences
which set sparse 1-2cm-in-diameter yellow-brown flowers in them. The
flowers open in the early morning and close as the sun rises higher.
Bloom time: July-August. |
