Viola
grypoceras var. exilis is a miniature type of Viola
grypoceras, the leaves being relatively small compared to its
original species, measuring one to two centimeters in length.
Another significant difference is that the leaf base margins are
close to straight like the bases of triangles, and the flowers are
also smaller than the originals, 1.5cm in diameter. In a scientific
journal, a viola expert will describe this variety as a new species;
he has already alleged its Japanese name as San'ingata-tachitsubosumire.
Bloom time: April-May. |
