Viola grypoceras var.
ripensis is a perennial of 5-10cm in height. It inhabits shores
of mountain torrents, roots in clefts in rocks, and makes
populations where fast-flowing water occasionally covers. Leaves,
the bases truncate or shallow heart-shaped, are smaller than the
original species, both in radical ones and on stems. Flowers are
light red-purple to dark blue-purple, the sizes are almost as large
as the original species, but the petals are narrower. Bloom time:
April-early May. |
