Viola grypoceras var. ripensis
is a perennial plant that reaches a height of 5-10cm. It inhabits
the shores of mountain torrents, roots in clefts in rocks, and makes
populations where fast-flowing water occasionally covers. The bases
of the truncated, or shallow heart-shaped leaves are smaller than
those of the original species, both in radial ones and on stems.
Flowers are light red-purple to dark blue-purple; their sizes are
almost as large as those of the original species, but the petals are
narrower. Bloom time: April-early May. |
