Viola obtusa,
a perennial herb with short white hairs all through, inhabits sunny
grasslands in fields and mountains. Leaves, both radical and those
on the stems, are concentric, 1.5-3cm long. Flowers, with
1.2-1.5cm-long petals, are dark red-purple, with distinctive white
portions in the centers. The height measures 10-20cm around bloom
time, but it grows to approximately 30cm when bearing fruit. Bloom
time: March-May. |
