Viola tokubuchiana var. takedana,
a perennial herb, reaches a height of 3-8cm in bloom time and
inhabits deciduous forests or sunny edges of evergreen forests.
Leaves, 2-5cm long, long-oval to lanceolate, heart-shaped at the
bases, hairy, expand sideways in a way that becomes parallel to the
ground, have serrations on the margins, and the ends gradually
narrow to points. Flowers, measuring 1.5-2 cm in diameter, are light
purple-red, sometimes bright red-purple; many have hairs at the
bases of side petals. Bloom time: April-May. |
