Viola vaginata
is a perennial viola species, growing
5-15cm tall, and inhabiting mainly semi-shady deciduous forests in
hilly districts. Leaves, developing after the flower, 5-8cm in
length, are tip-pointed, heart-shaped, shiny, and the veins are
sunken. Flowers, measuring 2cm in diameter, are light purple; the
side petals have no hairs, and the spurs are stout and short.
Rhizomes are also thick and long. Bloom time: April-May. |
