Vitis ficifolia is
a deciduous liana that twines around other bodies with its tendrils.
Leaves are alternate; blades are 5-8cm long and wide, ovate to broad
ovate-like triangular. The leaves generally cleft in 3-5. Still, the
cutting is variable, with shallow serrations on margins and bases
with deep heart-shaped. Surfaces are arachnoid at first but become
glabrous later, with back surfaces with light brown or white
arachnoid hairs that remain until autumn and 2.5-8cm-long petioles.
Dioecious: Six-twelve centimeter-long panicles emerge opposite to
leaves and set small green flowers. The inflorescences of bisexual
flowers are smaller, and the flowers are sparse. Sap fruit, about
6mm across, spherical, matures in black. Bloom time: June-August. |
