Youngia japonica
is an annual or biennial herb that is commonly found on roadsides,
in parks, or on the corners of gardens. The whole is soft, with
hairs, and cutting stems or leaves leads to the discharge of white
milk. Radical leaves arrange themselves in rosettes, 8-25cm long,
1.7-6cm wide, and pinnately deeply cleft in lobes. The terminal one
is triangular-ovate with round tips. On-stem leaves are relatively
pointed at the lower parts, while upper-part leaves are fewer in
number and smaller. Stem tips are 7-8 mm in diameter, with yellow
flower heads in a corymb form. Bloom time: May-October. |
