Bistorta officinalis ssp. japonica / Ibukitoranoo イブキトラノオ

Bistorta officinalis ssp_japonica is a perennial herb, 0.5-1.2m in height, inhabiting sunny, moist/damp, high places in mountainous regions, forming colonies. Rosettes, with long pedicles, are in the shape of a lanceolate to long-oblong, with the tips pointed and the bases abruptly tapering off to both sides of long pedicles, which grow to become wing-like. On-stem leaves are petiole-less; they embrace the stems at their bases. Stem apexes set cylindrical spikes with many dense white to light red flowers. Bloom time: July-September.
