Chengiopanax sciadophylloides, a 5-20m in height
deciduous tree, inhabits forests in mountainous regions, with
gray-white barks and spars oblong lenticels. Leaves are palmately
compound with long, 8-30cm, longer-than-the-blades peduncles. The
leaflets, 5 in number, are obovate-like oblong; the central ones are
the largest, 10-20cm long and 4-9cm wide, the tips shortly pointed,
the basal parts wedge-shaped, and the margins equip prickle-like
serrations. The ends of the current branches set umbels in which
many small yellow-green flowers bloom; petals are five, 1.5mm long,
oblong-ovate shaped, and bend backward. Sap fruit is 4-5mm in
diameter, moderately flat, and spherical. Bloom time:
August-September. |
