Corylopsis gotoana
is a deciduous shrub 2-5 meters tall, inhabiting rocky grounds in
mountainous regions, with gray-brown barks and new branches in the
same color. Leaves are alternate; blades measure 6-12cm long, 3-9cm
wide, orbicular-ovate to circular, with bases heart-shaped, shallow
serrations with nifty tips on the margins, no hairs on surfaces, and
whitish backsides with sparse long hairs, particularly, on veins.
Four to five, about 1cm-long yellow flowers, bloom before the leaves
develop, in 3-4cm-long inflorescences, with stamens about the same
length as petals and anthers dark red. Bloom time: March-April. |
