Inhabiting grassland in
mountainous regions, Echinops setifer grows to
approximately one meter in height. With long petioles, leaves are in
a long oblong shape, pinnately deeply cleft in lobes, with margins
with prickle-like sharply pointed serrations. The bottom sides of
the leaves with arachnoid hairs look white. Flowers heads comprise
single tubular flowers; gathering together, they become blue-purple
ball-flowers of approximately 5cm across and bloom on shoot apexes
and branch tips. Bloom time: August-September. |
