Helianthus strumosus is
a perennial height of 1-2m, originating in North-East America, with
fusiform tubers underground and almost no hairs on the stems. The
phyllotaxis is alternate; leaves are broadly lanceolate to
long-oblong, tinged with greenish gray, with serrations on the
margins. The branch tips generate 5-10cm-across capitula comprising
ligulate and tubular flowers; the ligulate flowers, the terminals
near to pointed, are yellow and 8-15 in number. Bloom time:
July-October. |
