Linaria canadensis, a
biennial herb of 1-60cm in height, originating in North America,
presently grow in the wild in much of Japan on roadsides or lawns.
Leaves are linear, the phyllotaxis being opposite or in whorls of 3
or 4; however, sparsely alternate on upper portions. Racemes appear
on stem tips, in which set several blue-purple labiate flowers,
corollas measuring approximately 1cm long and deeply cut in two;
stamens are 4, 2 of which are shorter than the others, and pistils
are single. Bloom time: April-May. |
