Linaria canadensis,
a biennial herb of 1-60cm in height, originating in North America,
grows in the wild in much of Japan on roadsides or lawns. Leaves are
linear, the phyllotaxis being opposite or in whorls of 3 or 4;
however, sparsely alternate on upper portions. Racemes appear on
stem tips, which set several blue-purple labiate flowers, corollas
measuring approximately 1cm long and deeply cut in two; stamens are
4, 2 of which are shorter than the others, and the pistils are single.
Bloom time: April-May. |
