Lithospermum erythrorhizon is
a rare perennial herb inhabiting grasslands in hilly districts.
Stems are 30-60cm tall, branch at upper parts, and have many hairs,
as with leaves. The leaves are of alternate phyllotaxis, in the
shape of a lanceolate, 3-7cm in diameter. The flowers are white and
measure approximately 8mm in diameter. Fruit comprises four
mericarps, gray. Bloom time: April-May. |
