Maianthemum dilatatum
is a perennial herb that inhabits coniferous forests in mountainous
regions, extending to the subalpine zone, with rhizomes that spread
extensively. Stems measure 10-25cm in height, and leaves are 3-7cm
in length, egg-heart-shaped, with 2-4cm long petioles, tips pointed,
and bases in a deep heart shape. Stem tips bear racemose
inflorescences in which many white flowers occur. Sap fruit is
spherical, 5-7mm in diameter, and ripens red. Bloom time: May-July. |
