Melothria japonica is
an annual vine found in uncultivated fields or water's edges. Leaves
measure 3-6cm long, 4-8cm wide, triangular-ovate, often shallowly
cleft in three. Dioecious: Both male and female flowers singly set
themselves on axils. However, branch tips can bear male flowers in a
raceme way. Fruit is 1-2cm-in-diameter spherical or oval and mature
in gray-white. Bloom time: August-September. |
